Leading Your Business

How are you doing as we move through things potentially starting to move towards opening up?  Are you feeling excited, nervous or anxious about your businesses next step?  I don’t know about you but I am ready for the next phase of being reunited in life, personally and professionally.  Going through COVID I have been apprehensive and guarded, trying to navigate leading a crew who have questioned the safety of going to work.  This has been a new way of thinking for me, but here is what I know today, I feel like I need a hugely uplifting, win right now.  Everything is pivoting and who knows what our new normal is going to look like, especially with a crew working in the public and on construction sites.

I have loved working from home but, like I’m sure many of you, have struggled with finding focus in the home environment.  There are so many things that can pull us out of focus and decrease productivity when working at home, which ultimately makes our days longer and less effective.

Let’s talk about business, with your new norm, do you feel focused and productive?  I am sure like most of us, you have been busy with the pivot to reinvent your business and think of new ways to support your team to keep things going to the best of your ability.

Have you had a chance to take a step back and think clearly without fear about a post-COVID revised business plan?

Each week I will be sharing strategies to become a force in your industry. These are the strategies I used to increase performance and profits in our business that eventually lead to the successful sale of our company. My expertise is working with business leaders teaching them skills on how to develop high performing teams that optimize productivity and profits. This is about transforming and pivoting business practices to provide the skills needed in our changing economy.

Let’s start with focus.

Raise your hand if working from home has you feeling scattered and lost in doing one thing for too many hours. Do you lose focus with interruptions from emails, phone calls, social media and time worried about what your next best steps are?  The end of the day arrives and its another day you have not gotten done what you wanted to get done because of all the interruptions during your day.   Your thoughts may not be serving you, worry or fear take you down a time-consuming path that removes you from working on what you love about your business.  One thing I have found very helpful is scheduling focused time for work and personal life as it has helped me to feel productive and successful.  A simple strategy is scheduling time to focus on a specific area that matters.  In our business, I would get lost in emails and they would frequently interrupt my workflow, removing my focus from doing what I loved in our business.  It actually caused me to freeze and when I adopted this, the operations of our company changed.

If you have any questions or would like to learn strategies that increase focus, productivity and discuss what you need to transition and pivot your business plan, I am here to help.  I’ve got some great resources including a daily planner to aid in focusing on daily priorities and create a productive workflow.

If you would like a copy of my daily planner to gain some productivity in your day, please click here and download a copy now.

I would love to hear from you and help you out with your leadership as we figure out a new business normal.
